In Each Of My Daughter's Eyes

In each of my daughter's eyes
I see life and love truly shine.
I see emotions and spirits expressed
In all shades of brown unrepressed.

From the moment each was born
And when they first opened them to the world;
From their very first inquiring gaze,
At my girls eyes I am still amazed.

In Victoria's I see her mother,
Her brown eyes a mirror image.
They look and act as one, the same;
Unmistakably her mother's daughter.

Judith's eyes reflect my grandmother's,
Her sweet look and tenderness like no other.
A simple wisdom flowing
With a certain truth and sincerity.

Stephanie's are the unquenchable fire,
Free and untamed, her eyes alive
With the intensity of her parent's passions
And fervor, hungry and ablaze.

Somewhere there resides
In my daughter's eyes,
Some of their father's reflection
And vision and affection.

Mostly I will find something else,
Something better, something other.
I'll find a truth of their selves
In each of my daughter's eyes.
